Jamshedpur: Persisting with its politcy to continue trying to make a difference in the lives of Sabar children, Yuva has now embarked upon a new task of running a tuition centre for Sabar children. It will soon start a new tution center for Sabar children at Otejhari, Potka from 1 April 2014.
Center For World Solidarity and ASW will support YUVA in running this tuition center.
YUVA has already been running two such study centers at Dhengam and Krarkocha villages for the last one year.
Otejhari is a remote village in Potka block of East Singhbhum district in Jharkhand. It is 45 kilometers from Jamshedpur. Sabars, primitive tribe, residing on a nearby hillock. In all, 13 sabar families live in Otejhari. The total population of Sabar community in that village is 63, including 35 men and 28 women.
The number of children below 4 is 10, including 6 boys and 4 girls. The number of children between 5 to 10 years of age is 12, including 6 boys and 6 girls. In the age group 11-14, there are 5 children, 3 boys and 2 girls.
Out of these 27 children, 7 children have left home (Palayan) and have gone to another place to earn their living.
