Jamshedpur: The social organization “Yuva” today distributed food and other relief materials among a large number of girls struggling against child marriage and gender inequality in Dhirol and Manpur villages of Potka block in East Singhbhum.
Today was the third leg of the food and relief material distribution campaign launched by Yuva with help from Girls First Fund (GFF).
The relief materials distributed today included dry edible provisions, masks and sanitary napkins.
A team of Yuva led by Barnali Chakraborty, secretary, reached Dhirol and Manpur villages of Potka and distributed these relief materials among about more than 100 girls of the area.
Those who were a part of the relief distribution team included Neeta Bose, Alok Barua, Anjana Deogam, Jyoti Hembrom, Anil Bodra, Chandrakala Munda, Prity Bhagat, Mamata Rajak and Avanti Sardar.
Later, Barnali Chakraborty, secretary, Yuva, said that this relief material distribution campaign is being run with the help of Girls First Fund (GFF).
Yuva has been running an intensive campaign against child marriage in different villages of Potka block in East Singhbhum.
The girls of Potka have been participating in different football teams, street play groups, community journalism and positive action groups Kishori Manch etc. to spread awareness about the harmful social evils like child marriage and gender inequality.
This relief material distribution was a part of the effort to strengthen girls of Potka and to enable them to fight social evils.
Seeing the difficult situation arising from the spread of Covid-19 virus and the ensuing lockdown to thwart its further spread, Yuva decided to provide a helping hand to the girls who are a part of its campaign against child marriage and gender inequality.
