Jamshedpur: The social organization 'YUVA' today distributed food relief material among the girls fighting against child marriage and for gender equality. Dry food materials and sanitary napkins were distributed among the girls.
A small team led by Barnali Chakraborty, secretary, YUVA today visited rural areas of Potka, especially Tangrain, Jojodih, Chakri, Naga, Sarse, Champi and Gomiasai villages and distributed relief materials amongst more than 200 girls.
Those who were part of the relief material distribution team included Neeta Bose, Alok Barua, Sandeep Dey, Tarak Nayak, Pinaki Guha Thakurta, Sonali Dey, Dev Kumar, Sanchita Dey, Rajiv Dey, Chandrakala Munda, Prity Bhagat, Mamta Rajak and Avanti Sardar.
YUVA secretary Barnali Chakraborty said that this relief material distribution campaign has been launched with the help of Girls First Fund.
YUVA has been leading an intensive campaign against child marriage in the rural areas of Potka block in East Singhbhum.
The girls of Potka have been taking an active part in awareness campaign through participation in football teams, nukkad natak, community journalism, Kishori Manch acvitities etc.
