Jamshedpur: As scheduled and announced, Savar Community School - 'Kislay'- a dream project of Yuva, was inaugurated today on May 23, 2011, formally by Mrs. Anita Devi, vice-chairman, East Singhbhum District Council. A large number of people from Savar community, Savar children, Yuva members and guests were present on the occasion.
Mrs. Anita Devi, vice-chairman, Zila Parishad, formally inaugurated the school by cutting a ribbon and in her address applauded the initiative of Yuva for bringing the Savar children back to education mainstream.Mr. Sanjiv Sardar, member, district council, Rajaram Munda, Mukhiya (headman), Tangrain village, Anjali Bose, eminent social worker of Jamshedpur and Mrs. Alpana Bhattacharya, another well-known social worker and personality of East Singhbhum were present on the occasion.Delivering the welcome address, Barnali, secretary, Yuva delved into the decision of Yuva to take this special initiative for Savar children and narrated the instances where Yuva members have been able to bring about a positive change in the circumstances of different communities.
The programme was conducted by Arbind Tiwary, a founder member of the organization. The vote of thanks was proposed by Chandmony Sanwaiya.
Yuva secretary during her address stressed the need to ensure that the hand-pump installed in the area be repaired as soon as possible. She also stressed the need to get the roof of the houses of Savar families repaired. She highlighted the unwillingness of Savar families to live in roofed houses and said that even while respecting the sentiments and specialty of Savar community there is a need to educate Savar children.
A large number of locals and Savar parents as well as Savar children were also present on the occasion.
With the inauguration ceremony, the Savar Community School has now become functional. Around 27 children have been enrolled in the school. The aim of the project is to enable and persuade Savar children to join the mainstream of education and encourage them to start attending government school, which is at some distance from their village.
Savar Community School, Kislay, would be run in Savar Nagar, Tangrain, Potka in East Singhbhum.
