Chetan Sabar has been suffering from tuberculosis. And Chetan Sabar was about to die. YUVA volunteers admitted him in Sadar Hospital on 19 october.
However, in Sadar hospital, there is no facility for X-Rays. Finally, Chetan Sabar had to be shifted to MGM Hospital, Jamshedpur on October 21, 2013.
Doctors there have diagnosed him as suffering from TB. Chetan was released on October 27, 2013 from the hospital. Now,he is taking medicines for TB.
YUVA volunteers have been trying hard to get him admitted in a hospital for the last 2-3 months.
But he did not want to leave his village. And, in a sense, he was ready to meet his end due to deadly disease of Tuberculosis.
He can not work hard. He is also given to the habit of consuming too much country liquor and claims that he does so only to relieve his pain. He has swelling of glands around his neck for the last 3-4 years. Doctors say that it is due to TB.
His wife earns some money by minding goats that belong to others. And they also have three children. The family lives in Dhengam village.
Dhengam and Krarkocha are remote villages in Potka block of East Singhbhum, Jharkhand.
YUVA is actively implementing the project “Social and legal empowerment of Sabar community” in Dhengam and Krarkocha villagse of Potka with the help of ASW-CWS support.
Yuva hopes to bring about a positive change in the lives of poor Sabars living in the area.
