Jamshedpur, 2 June: A campaign to open bank accounts was launched today among MGNREGS workers in Tangersai village of Potka under the aegis of social organization Youth Unity for Voluntary Action (YUVA).
A total of 40 bank accounts were opened in the village. A large number of villagers were present during the campaign. YUVA members apprised the villagers comprising a sizeable number of MGNREGS workers about the necessity and benefits of bank account.
Basic features and mode of operation of bank accounts were discussed in detail with the workers. The queries of villagers were also answered to their satisfaction. Many villagers are expected to get their bank accounts opened in the next few days.
Among those present during the campaign included Bank Mitra Vishwajeet Mandal, YUVA secretary Barnali Chakraborty, CFT leader Pramod Kumar, technical expert Shankar Kaivarta, rojgar sevak Udai Murmu, mate Sunita Sardar and Saraswati Sardar.
